Flowers In The Wind

For something close to home, these two oil paintings capture the magical movement of garlands sold by Bangkok’s traffic light. This is foreshadowed by the use of textured background in both artworks as these textures are chosen from the exterior walls of old homes that can often be found near traffic lights. From the beige-pink painting of the woman holding garlands, the blue mixed media work was developed with golden petal trails, a representation of their spiritual uses within the Thai people’s beliefs. As the gold petals have been attached with thin strings when in contact with wind, they will dance around just like real flower petals falling in the wind.
